Who we are

Virunga Biotech was established in Rwanda in 2017, guided by our agriculture value-chain investment philosophy, which aims to support the modernization of Rwandan agriculture and agro-processing, all while promoting the development of agribusinesses through contract farming.

We have conducted numerous supervised field trials since the year 2017 on various horticulture products, using precision farming techniques. Based on these trials, we have successfully established required planting programs to engage out-growers based on the seasonal demands for exporting of produce to France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

We are Global GAP certified in several vegetables including Gherkins (Pickled Cucumber).

We have been awarded with grants from IDH - The Sustainable Trade Initiative and SAIP to establish a pack-house for processing of both fresh and pickled produce. The construction of the pack-house is expected to be completed by July 2024 which will include the latest equipment and machinery to improve the quality and increase the shelf-life of our produce.
