The increase in production and export of vegetables during the last couple of years is a direct result of our significant commitment and investments which includes commissioning of new packhouse with fresh vegetables processing line.

The procured processing line has been customized for Virunga Biotech Tech to address necessities of climate sensitive vegetables along with ensuring fresh produce is free from pests, fungi, fertilizer, pesticide, organic residues and most importantly compliant with EU Regulation 2023/1134 – Clause 10.1 E.

Virunga is the only company in Rwanda to have this technology.

The below 2 treatments are done through the processing line

1. Cold Water Washing Treatment (2°C)

• Cold Water Washing will ensure larvae and eggs inside the green chilis are obliterated along with increasing the shelf life of green chilis by reducing inside and outside temperature of the green chilis.

2. Ozone Infuses Water Washing Treatment (2°C)

• Common Organism killed by Ozone infused water include bacteria, fungus & mold spores, protozoa, fungal pathogens, virus, yeast, cysts and algae.
